An excellent programme played with confidence, panache and musicality – enjoyed by all!

Coolum Civic Centre was buzzing with excitement for the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra’s concert – ‘Symphony by the Sea’ on Saturday the 13th May at 2pm.

Opening the programme was Brahms Academic Overture – so precisely and passionately played. Next a change of era and genre, the first movement of Bach’s Double Violin Concerto excellently performed by Alex Pattri (leader) and Helen Brereton. Bach’s popular Air in G followed and the Dramatic “March to the Scaffold by Berlioz finished the 1st half of the programme.

Borodin’s dazzling and spectacular Polovtsian Dances opened the 2nd half of the afternoons presentation followed by 4 of Beethoven’s Twelve Country Dances.

Concluding the programme was a total contrast of genre – music by the Beatles. This is a parody on Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite featuring Lennon and McCartney’s greatest hits such as Help, When I’m 64 and All My Lovin.

It was a superb concert with great performances and brilliant playing – so passionate – the audience loved it. They were transfixed and in raptures at the orchestra’s performances.

An excellent programme played with confidence, panache and musicality – enjoyed by all!

Thank you.
